My name is Novi. I grew up with my mother who likes to use herbal treatment from her backyard as our family’s personal care including health and skin treatment. We grew piper betle to harvest its leaves for showering. I was inspired to take our backyard knowledge to the next level. As we all know, the benefits of natural comodities are proven beneficial for human life. It is indeed more healthier than less-nature based ingridents.
Experience as a nutrition student taught me to appreciate more in nature’s power that could affect our holistic health. The more natural our food, or the products we consumed, the more benefits we could gain. Should it work for food, it works for our skin too.
However, in this fast-changing world, we as a consumer, have so many choices, yet somehow we do not have the “power” to fully control the products that we consumed. Yes, we could go to the traditional market, buy fresh fruits and vegetables, and be very conscious about our daily choices, but for real, how many times in a month that we do that? Until then, I realized that I was a ‘powerless’ consumer buying available products in the market. To be honest, I was not satisfied with the choices I had.
Working together with a brilliant chemist, who is fortunately my husband, we founded a nature-based skincare named Jinawi. Inspired by a Javanese proverb, Gemah Ripah loh Jinawi, which describe Indonesia as a very prosperous region. We both believe that our mother nature provides us the best option we could use.
Jinawi was established in September 2018 and has a size of 5 to 6 people. Currently, we have created more than 10 products. They are liquid soap, face mask, face cleanser, face oil, bar soap, and shampoo bar. Our signatures are second cleanser “bare face” and shampoo bar.
Our company believes that quality of the products is everything that matters, so we put a lot of commitment and effort to maintain ours at the top level. We dream to provide more natural alternatives to all classes of society with lower price. Natural skin care is currently attached to the upper or upper-middle classes within society. If we grew our own based ingridients, we could reduce the production cost, hence lowering the final end products.
